Our restaurant is named after Lalibela, a holy city in Ethiopia famous for its eleven rock-hewn churches, carved from a single piece of rust-red tuff and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1978. Their beauty inspired our name.

How it all began
Our first restaurant opened in Neukölln in 2018 – driven by the wish to bring the diversity of Ethiopian cuisine to Berlin.
For Kreuzberg, our journey began on 1 March 2020: with a big vision we signed the lease – an old, run-down pharmacy was to become our Ethiopian oasis.
Then came the pandemic. From one lockdown to the next we had to postpone our opening again and again. Two years full of obstacles – but we never lost sight of our Lalibela. Since 2 May 2022 we have finally been able to welcome you in Kreuzberg, too.
